- Ec1s and BabyJ officially signed with 100 Thieves ahead of the 2022 season
- Ec1s is now the team’s in-game leader
- BabyJ takes control of the sentinel role
Two weeks before the start of the NA VCT 2022, 100 Thieves are completing their VALORANT roster with new support players ec1s and BabyJ.
100 Thieves Sign New Players
With this year’s NS VCT coming closer and closer, 100 Thieves finally revealed their team composition. The core of it still remains the veteran trio Ethan Arnold, Spencer “Hiko” Martin, and Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk from last year. However, the organization is bolstering its lineup with the signing of two new support players, namely Adam “ec1s” Eccles and Hunter “BabyJ” Schline.
It is interesting to note that, as well as taking up the controller role, ec1s will also be taking up the responsibilities of in-game leader, despite him being new to the team. The sentinel role will be taken by BabyJ, and the three veterans from last year will likely remain at their previous spots of Sova main, Skye main, and primary duelist.
How the New Players Fit Into the Team?
Such large changes to the roster might seem strange, as 100 Thieves came off a strong 2021 season. One would think that they would keep their roster mostly unchanged, but rumors of 100T wanting to hire ec1s were circulating since the end of last year.
A reason for the changes might be the fact that despite the fact 100T established themselves as a top NA team and reached the semifinals of its first international VALORANT LAN at Masters Berlin, they ended the year on a low. Right before the NA Last Chance Qualifier, 100T parted ways with IGL Joshua “steel” Nissan, after which they fell to Cloud9.
100 Thieves also saw the departure of Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella from VALORANT in December last year. It’s rumored nitr0 will return to professional CS:GO, playing for Team Liquid.
Speaking of Team Liquid, ec1s used to be part of their VALORANT roster but was let go less than three months after being signed. He later went on to do some impressive performances with Ninjas in Pyjamas.
BabyJ was signed by FaZe Clan after one of their key players, Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen, decided to join Team Envy during the latter part of the VCT 2021 season. FaZe is still making adjustments to their VALORANT roster, and this allowed BabyJ to sign 100 Thieves instead.
100T’s renewed team should make their debut very soon at the upcoming VCT NA open qualifiers on January 27, 2022. The team’s composition currently sits like this:
- Spencer “Hiko” Martin – Sova main
- Peter “Asuna” Mazuryk – primary duelist
- Ethan “Ethan” Arnold – Skye main
- Hunter “BabyJ” Schline – sentinel
- Adam “ec1s” Eccles – controller and in-game leader
